The Team was called out by a walker whose partner was thought to have broken her lower leg. Due to the severity of a broken leg, as the Team was deploying, the GNAAS responded. The helicopter was first on scene and their Doctor assessed the injury and concluded no leg fracture.

The Team stretchered the casualty to the helicopter and she was flown down to the valley floor and transferred to a Team Land Rover. The casualty and her partner then made their own way to hospital.

A male had fallen and hurt his ankle whilst walking his dog. When he slipped, he heard a loud crack and was no longer able to weight bear. The injury was treated and the casualty was stretchered into Scandale where the rescuers were met by Land Rovers from both LAMRT and PMRT.

The casualty was driven to the LAMRT Base in Ambleside, from where he was collected by his parents to be taken to hospital for further treatment.

A male had been walking with his friends when he tripped, injuring his ankle. Despite the pain, the casualty managed to continue the group’s route over Helvellyn and Fairfield, before descending into Dovedale. Because of poor mobile phone coverage, two of the casualty’s companions made their way to Sykeside campsite to call for assistance.

The Team located the casualty and splinted his ankle. With assistance, the male was able to slowly walk down to the Team Land Rovers. He was then driven to Sykeside to be reunited with his friends.

The Team received a report of a man who had slipped and injured his knee while walking on Whiteside Bank path between Helvellyn and Raise. The man’s injury was assessed and his leg splinted, before he was packaged on the stretcher and wheeled and sledged down to a Team Land Rover.

After a further assessment at Base by a Team Doctor, the man was driven by other members of his party to the RLI for further treatment.

A walker on the east side of Ullswater had slipped and sustained a leg injury. The injury was treated on scene then stretchered to a Team Land Rover which transported him to Base prior to onward travel to hospital via land ambulance.

A female walker reported to the police that she had slipped and injured her ankle while descending Helvellyn. After assessment and splinting, she was stretchered the short distance back to a Team Land Rover and then transferred down to the Team’s Base.

She was passed over to her son who drove her to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The Team responded to a report of a male on Helvellyn in low cloud and drizzle who had fallen off his bike. He suffered a number of injuries and had been unconscious. The casualty was assessed, given warm clothing and slowly walked down to the Land Rovers then driven to Base where he was examined by a Team Doctor and advised to attend hospital.

The casualty had been wearing a helmet which had sustained substantial damage.

The police asked the Team to assist a male who had slipped and sustained an ankle injury whilst descending from Angle Tarn. He had dislocated his ankle. Strong pain relief was administered, the ankle was reduced at scene, then splinted. He was stretchered to the Team Land Rovers and driven to Base where an ambulance crew took him to CIC for further treatment.

The Team was called to assist a woman who had dislocated her kneecap. When the Team arrived, her kneecap had relocated itself, but she remained in considerable pain. The casualty was assessed, given analgesia and her leg splinted. She was stretchered to a Team vehicle.

The casualty’s partner drove her to CIC in their own vehicle.

The Team was tasked by NWAS to assist a female who had slipped near Mires Beck while descending from Helvellyn. The casualty was given strong pain relief, her ankle splinted, then placed on a stretcher and carried down to a Team Land Rover and transported to her vehicle in Glenridding.

Her friend conveyed her to hospital for further treatment.
