The Team was alerted to reports from both the police and NWAS of a woman who had tripped and injured her ankle. The casualty’s location could not be verified as the report had been passed on via a landline, so a vehicle was dispatched to locate the casualty.

After assessment and splinting of the woman’s ankle she was assisted to the Team Land Rover and returned to her car at Hartsop. Her companions transported her to hospital for further treatment.

A woman walking with her partner had slipped, injuring her shoulder and hip and was unable to continue. The assistance of Penrith MRT was requested because of low availability of Team Members. Due to the potential seriousness of a hip injury, NWAS requested the assistance of GNAAS.

The helicopter was able to land close to the scene and treat the casualty before either Team arrived. The casualty was flown to CIC for further treatment.

While the Team was at Stybarrow Crag, a callout was received from a couple requiring help. The Team Leader contacted the couple and established that the pain was likely to be due to fatigue. The caller was advised to continue to the top of Helvellyn where passing walkers gave him some food.

On further contact they confirmed that they were able to continue unaided.

The Team was alerted by both NWAS and Cumbria Police to a female who had slipped when descending from the fell and sustained an ankle injury. As she was not far from the road the Team was quickly on scene. The injury was treated, and the casualty was taken to the road by stretcher then transferred in a Team vehicle to the Rescue Base to await a land ambulance to take her to hospital.

The Team was called out to attend a male who had been walking with his family when he slipped and injured his ankle. The casualty was located, and his ankle was stabilised and splinted, then he was transferred by stretcher to a Team Land Rover.

The casualty and his family then made their own way to hospital for further treatment.

The Team was called to attend a walker who had injured her ankle on the Ullswater Way from Howtown to Glenridding. The Team used their new rescue boat Patrick Pete to access the casualty. The injury was stabilised at the scene and she was then carried on a stretcher to the boat.

The casualty and her family were then taken across the lake to Glenridding.

A woman in her early 70’s slipped whilst walking with her family on Gowbarrow Fell. Her injuries were assessed, and her ankle was splinted before she was helped on to a stretcher and carried down to the road. Her family then drove her to hospital for further treatment.

The police had received numerous calls stating a male had fallen about 100 metres from the vicinity of the Bad Step, Striding Edge. As it was likely that the faller had sustained serious injuries the Team requested support from HMCG. The GNAAS aircraft was also mobilised.

The Air Ambulance landed at Red Tarn so their Doctor and Paramedic were first on scene. Sadly, despite medical attention, the casualty died. The Team carried the casualty to the Air Ambulance which flew him to Patterdale.

Cumbria Police received a call from an emergency call centre in America reporting that a lady had slipped and rolled her ankle while descending from Red Tarn (Helvellyn). On scene, Team Members gave the casualty strong pain relief and splinted her ankle.

She was stretchered to a Team Land Rover that transported her to the Team’s Base and a waiting land ambulance. She was transferred to CIC for further treatment.

Cumbria Police tasked the Team to attena a young man who had slipped on a loose section of the balcony path and fallen down the bank sustaining a debilitating lower leg injury. The Team assessed the injury, gave pain relief and splinted his lower leg prior to stretchering from the fell.
