What we collect and why
When you buy from our shop or enter our raffle
We collect your name, billing and delivery address, email address and phone number. We use these to take payment, send your order, contact you about it and, for the raffle, to contact winners.
We do this because we need the information to complete your order. We keep order records for six years because the law requires charities to keep financial records for that long.
You can check out without creating an account.
Card payments
Card payments are handled by WooPayments, which is provided by Automattic and Stripe. Your card details go straight to them and are never stored on our website. Stripe may use cookies and device information to prevent fraud.
Emails from the website
Order confirmations and other emails from the website are sent through an email delivery service, Brevo. They process your email address only to deliver the message.
Visitor statistics
We use Burst Statistics to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not use cookies. The data is kept on our own website, not sent to an analytics company, and we cannot use it to identify you.
Donations
When you donate through JustGiving, you leave our website, and JustGiving’s own privacy policy applies. JustGiving tells us about your donation only if you agree to it on their site.
Incident reports
We publish short reports of our callouts. We do not name the people we help, and we avoid details that would identify them. If you think a report identifies you or someone you know, contact the Team Secretary and we will review it.
Cookies
The website uses only the cookies it needs to work. These keep the contents of your basket, run the checkout and prevent payment fraud. They are essential, so we do not ask for consent. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the services named above, which process it for us. These are WooPayments/Stripe, Brevo and our website host, Namecheap (EasyWP). We also share it with the delivery service carrying your order. We never sell your information or give it to other organisations for marketing.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it;
- ask us to delete it, unless we have to keep it by law, such as order records;
- object to how we use it.
To make any of these requests, email the Team Secretary. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way we use information changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
