On Monday 7th July whilst the Team were dealing with job number 60 a request was made from a Team Member who worked at the Outdoor Centre at Patterdale Hall for assistance of the Team Doctor for a young male who had slipped and had a serious fracture to his leg. The doctor and one other Team Member left the previous incident and attended , on arrival they administrated strong pain relief and started to treat the male alongside the Beep Doctor who attended a short while later.  The male was then conveyed to hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
The Team have had a busy few days with 5 rescues over the last 3 days.

At 18:51 on 16 June 2025 Cumbria Police contacted Patterdale Mountain Rescue requesting assistance for a 20 year old male suffering with leg cramps on Helvellyn summit.
Upon investigation, the Duty Leader ascertained that the male had carried camping equipment to the top of Helvellyn with a group of four friends and was suffering from exhausted legs and had no current medical conditions. As the group would need to walk off and the weather was mild the group slowly made their way towards Swirls Car Park.  The call was then transferred to Keswick Mountain Rescue as the group were descending into their area. Luckily for all an experienced member of the public came across the group and after confirming that MR assistance wasnt required he kindly assisted them in erecting their tents allowing the casualty to recover.
The incident took 2 hours for 1 Patterdale member before Keswick kindly took over.

On 14 June 25 North West Ambulance Service contacted Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team with a report that a male had fallen down a waterfall.
Upon further investigation the casualty was located near the shore of Ullswater. The team were dispatched and due to the nature of the fall the casualty received pain relief before being stabilised and transferred to the nearby ambulance for transportation on to hospital.
The callout lasted 2 hours and involved 14 team members

At 12:15 the Team were alerted by Cumbria Police to walker that had fallen on the footpath on the side of Hallin Fell near the lake shore. The walker had reported that she had sustained injuries to both arms and was in a lot of pain.
11 team members responded and the team used 2 Land Rover to gain access near to the casualties location.
The casualty was assessed by a team doctor and given analgesia before splinting one arm and bandaging the other.
The team then carried them in the stretcher to one of our team vehicles, where she was then transported to Pooley Bridge and handed over to NWAS and their ambulance crew.
This rescue lasted 3 hours.

On 7 June 2025 at 1624 Cumbria Police received a call from a group of ladies walking in the Grisedale valley as one of them had sustained a suspected ankle fracture.
The team was called out and made there way to an intitial grid reference that had been supplied above Lantys tarn. Unfortunatley once at the location the team were unable to locate the casualty. The team widened the search area and  whilst searching a further update was recieved providing a new location next to Braesteads Farm within the valley. The team redeployed to the new location where the casualty was quickly located. The casualty was in good spirits and was soon accessed and packaged before being transferred to the nearby team vehicle.
The callout lasted 3 hours with 13 team members.

While the Team were holding an event to unveil a new honours board at their base, a call came in to assist a woman taking part in an organised event who had injured her ankle. Three Team members deployed in the rescue boat to assist Penrith MRT with reaching the casualty and transporting her back to Howtown.

A woman taking part in an organised event slipped and injured her hip. Event paramedics treated the casualty and called the North West Ambulance Service, which deployed an air ambulance. The Team were required to stretcher the casualty from the incident location to the aircraft.

On Wednesday 28/05/2025 at around 1445hrs the team were called out regards a walker with an ankle injury on Sheffield Pike. The casualty had been descending with his partner into Glencoyne down the side of Sheffield Pike, when he slipped and injured his ankle. The team accessed the site via Seldom Seen and located the casualty quickly. The injury was stabilised with a leg splint and the casualty was evacuated by stretcher down to a team landrover. The couple then took themselves to the nearest hospital for further treatment. The rescue took 3 hrs and involved 11 team members.

On Wednesday 30th April at 16:00hrs the Team were called by Cumbria Police to a female who had sustained a leg injury while visiting Aira Force with her family.  The casualty was treated by both a Team Medic and one of our Remote Rescue Medical Technicians before being stretched down to her families vehicle at the main National Trust car park.
8 Team Members attended this incident which took just over 3 hours to complete.

On Sunday 27th April at 13.16hrs the Team were called by Cumbria Police to a female who was walking near Glenridding and unable to continue due to an injury.  The call had been reported by another walker who had left the scene and as the Duty Leader was unable to contact the casualty the full team were called out. As the team had been training in the morning the first Land Rover was quickly away due to some members being still at the Rescue Base.  The casualty was met by the Land Rover on the track heading up to Kepple Cove after she had managed to walk painfully down from her original location on the Zig Zags.  The Female and her partner were conveyed back down the track and after a further examination was carried out by the team Doctor at Patterdale Base it was found that she was cold and had a low temperature. She was given warm dry clothing  and warm drinks and allowed to travel home with her partner.
14 Team members attended the Rescue which took just over an hour to complete.
