The Team was alerted to a report of a 70 year old male who was unable to continue. As some Team Members were at Base packing kit from a previous incident, they reached the casualty quickly. He was checked by a Team Doctor and no serious medical issues were identified.

The casualty was carried from the fell on a stretcher and reunited with his walking party who took him home.

Cumbria Police tasked the Team to go to the assistance of a female on the Ullswater Way between Howtown and Glenridding, who was suffering from abdominal pain. The Rescue RIB was launched to expedite access and recovery of the casualty. The casualty was examined at the scene before being stretchered to the boat and transported back to her accommodation.

Cumbria Police tasked the Team to an incident on the Mires Beck path up Helvellyn. A male, who had been walking with his friend, had collapsed and was reported to be dropping in and out of consciousness. Following examination by a Team Doctor the casualty was stretchered down the fell to a waiting ambulance for onward transport and treatment at CIC.

Cumbria Police alerted the Team to a male who collapsed while participating in an organised long distance fell race. The runner had been unconscious. With the risk of cardiac arrest, the assistance of a helicopter from HMCG or GNAAS was requested.

Accompanied by a Team Doctor, the casualty was flown to CIC for further treatment.

NWAS alerted the Team to a pregnant woman who had been vomiting and feeling unwell whilst walking at Aira Force. Due to low numbers the assistance of Penrith MRT was requested. Ambulance personnel were first on scene and provided treatment. Team Members stretchered the casualty to the ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

LAMRT forwarded a report of a male with chest pains. The casualty had been camping with friends and fallen, hurting his knee, but was also experiencing pains in his chest. A SARLOC / PhoneFind located him on the path below Brock Crags. In recognition of the reported symptoms, a HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter was requested.

Due to the low numbers responding, RAF Leeming MRT, who were in the Keswick area, were requested to assist. The casualty was assessed and found to be suffering mild hypothermia. He was warmed, placed in a cas bag, on a stretcher, and carried up the hill to the helicopter. The casualty was then flown to hospital for further treatment.

Whilst dealing with the incident on Helvellyn, the Team was alerted to a person who had sustained head and chest injuries as a result of a tumbling fall. As most of the Team’s resources were employed on the first job, the second incident was passed to Penrith MRT.

The Team was called to the aid of a woman who was suffering chest pains. A Team Doctor treated the woman before she was evacuated by stretcher to an ambulance for further care.

A male had been walking down the side of Aira Force when he started to feel unwell and was complaining of chest pains. A National Trust staff member called 999 for assistance. The Team was quickly on scene and administered first aid then evacuated the casualty to the carpark where he was handed over to a NWAS land ambulance.

On Monday, August 21st at 16:10 the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was tasked by Cumbria Police to go to the aid of a group of young people who had become cold and were unable to continue their walk due to strong winds. Sixteen team members responded and thirteen made their way onto the fell to escort the group back to the valley bottom.

Two of the group were suffering from mild hypothermia and once rewarmed were checked over by a team doctor. This incident lasted a total of 4hrs 10 minutes.
