On Tuesday 03/06/2025 at around 1700hrs the team received a call regards a walker who was suffering from cramp on Birkhouse Moor . The team leader made telephone contact and it was established that there were no medical issues and the male was given general advice on dealing with his cramp. The male made his own way down the hill with his companions

On Sunday 25th May at 04:55hrs the Team were contacted by Cumbria Police. It was quick established that the group of males from the earlier rescue on Dove Crag incident number 37 had again rung in asking for assistance stating  they were very cold and wet and had possible hypothermia. Contact was made with the males and it was agreed they would start and make their way down towards Hartsop where a couple of Team members would walk up and meet them.  The group were transported back to Patterdale Base where they were given hot drinks and had their wet clothes dried before heading off with the parents of one of the group. Advice was given to the males describing how precarious it is getting into the Priest Hole especially in the dark and wet conditions, also on checking weather forecast and proper planning for those type of ventures.
This was the 3rd call that night after an earlier wake up call at 01:45 hrs for a rescue which after a little investigation by the Duty Leader passed it over Langdale/Ambleside MRT as it was in their area.
Two Team members were involved for around 4 hours in total.

On Monday 19th May at 18.42 hrs the Team were alerted to a male who had collapsed whilst walking above Greenside at Glenridding.  The call had come via Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue as they had initially been called in error but quickly passed over to ourselves to deal with.  The Team responded swiftly with the first Land Rover, also attending was a First Responder plus North West Ambulance Paramedics and GNAAS staff.  Once on scene it was quickly established the male had sadly passed away.  The Team carried the male to a Team Landrover and conveyed him back to Patterdale Base where he was handed over to Cumbria Police.
11 Team members responded to this incident which took 3 hours to complete.  The Team wish to send their condolences to the gentlemans family.

At 1220 on 10 May 2025 Cumbria Police contacted Patterdale Mountain Rescue requesting assistance for a lady suffering from vertigo who was on an exposed path over looking Ullswater. Luckily due to the prolonged dry conditions the team vehicle was able to drive close to the scene. Once on scene the casualty was medically accessed before being assisted to the team vehicle away from the exposed edge.
The incident lasted 4 hours with 2 team members deployed.

Limited call out 17/04/25. Exhausted female walker coming down Red Tarn path. Walked off by 2 team members

The Team were called to a report of a walker experiencing a panic attack while climbing Place Fell. Six Team members were deployed to locate the party of two and guide them safely down to Patterdale.

On Friday 21st February at 13.18hrs the Duty leader was contacted by Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue regarding a Male who had become cold, wet and exhausted whilst walking in bad weather. As the Casualty was in Patterdale's area it was past over to us to deal with. The Team were called out after initial contact was made with the Male to go and assist him getting off the hill safely. Seven Team Members made their way on foot from Hartsop into the Dovedale area and onto the Summit between Dove Crag and Hart Crag , conditions were bad with driving rain and very strong winds, over 80mph winds reported on Helvellyn summit at the time.  It was established the Male had set off on foot from Windermere Train Station around 5 am and was intending on going to Helvellyn to camp for the night, on route he became cold and wet due to the rain and with the high winds he was unable to pitch his Tent. As all his kit was now wet and he was in cloud he rang Cumbria Police to request assistance as he felt unable to get down safely in the conditions.  Team Members met up with the casualty warmed him up and gave him dry clothing and a Blizzard Blanket/jacket to wear and once warm he was walked off the hill back to the Team Land Rovers and conveyed to Patterdale Base for warm drinks. Eleven Team Members were involved in the Rescue which took just under 5 hours to complete.

NWAS had received a call from a couple walking the Ullswater shore path with a report that an 18 year old walker was suffering chest pain. The casualty’s concerned partner carried her 500 metres to the nearest house to await the Team’s arrival.

A Team Doctor was happy that the casualty was stable enough to be transported to the local minor injuries unit for further assessment. There was a long wait for an ambulance so the casualty and her partner were taken to the hospital in a Team vehicle.

NWAS requested the Team’s assistance in going to the aid of an male who had collapsed while walking with a colleague. The Team was able to drive to the scene. He was examined and treatment was started immediately. The casualty was placed on a stretcher and conveyed to the Team’s Base.

An ambulance took the casualty to hospital for further treatment.

A male who had been walking with his wife had rested during a steep decent and found he could not get back up. The couple rang the police for assistance. Given their location, and the limited numbers of rescuers available, the support of PMRT was requested.

A Team Doctor examined the casualty before he was placed on stretcher and lowered off the fell. The couple were driven to the Team’s Base in a Team Land Rover for a further check before making their own way home.
