The police tasked the Team with investigating a report of flashing lights on Barton Fell, below Arthur’s Pike. The informant was contacted and reported that he could see several lights on the skyline. As a charity event was being held to place people on all the Wainwright’s during the night, it was agreed that no further action would be taken unless a specific call for assistance was received

Returning from Dove Crag to Brothers’ Water camp site, a group of three lost their way and called for assistance. A small team was sent to meet the lost walkers and return them to their campsite.

The police received a call from someone reporting themself lost on Helvellyn. Initially, the job was passed to Keswick MRT but, as the information revealed the walker was in Patterdale’s area, it was passed to PMRT. The initial call allowed identification of the location but loss of signal meant that no further information was available.

As the weather was improving the decision was taken to wait until communication was re- established. When an hour later, the Team made contact, the walker had managed to find their way back to the road with the help of another fell walker.

The crew of an Ullswater ‘Steamers’ boat reported that a tent had been seen in the same location for the past 2 weeks. Team Members headed to the location and found the abandoned equipment, which they collected and brought back to the Base to be repurposed.

A small search team was tasked to search the fells above the Langdale Valley for a missing man. Nothing was found but sadly the man’s body was discovered the following day on Scafell.

Cumbria Police contacted the Team with a report of a man lost on Helvellyn. From the location of the 999 call it appeared that he was high up in the back of Brown Cove. While the Team were assembling to begin a search, the man re-contacted the police to say that he had found the path, was on his way down and did not require further assistance.

The Team was stood down.

Cumbria Police alerted the Team to a report of lights seen on Place Fell. The Team was unable to contact the informant and the weather deteriorated preventing visual inspection of the fell from Patterdale. As a 24 hour ultra-marathon was known to be coming through the area it seemed likely that the lights were those of participants.

In the absence of any reports of missing or overdue walkers, no further action was taken.

Cumbria Police received a report that, earlier in the day, an individual traversing Swirral Edge had heard someone on Striding Edge, shouting for help. Due to the delay in reporting and the absence of further reports the Team was stood down.

Cumbria Police tasked the Team to go to the assistance of a young family who had become disorientated in low cloud. A small party of rescuers made their way to the family’s location and escorted them from the fell.

The Team was tasked by Cumbria Police to go to the assistance of three walkers who had become disorientated and concerned about finding their way off the fell. The men, all in their 40’s, had decided to wild camp at Grisedale Tarn but, making slow progress in the snow and in failing light, decided to pitch their tents at Deepdale Hause.

The next morning, in poor visibility and with the tracks hidden by the night’s snowfall, the three dialled 999. A rescue party attended the campsite from where they escorted the party from the fell.
