Early in the morning, Penrith Mountain Rescue Team called for the assistance of several Lakes Teams in the search for a male who had not returned from a run the previous day. The Team joined the search at first light. The body of the missing fell runner was found at midday.

At approximately 15:45 on Saturday December 2nd, Cumbria Police asked the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team if they could assist with the evacuation of stranded motorists in the Windermere area. The team sent one vehicle to work alongside other Lake District Mountain Rescue Teams and partner agencies.

This incident involved three team members and lasted a total of 8 hours.

October 22, 2023 1 8:25hrs On Sunday evening 22nd October at 18:25hrs the Duty leader at Patterdale MRT was contacted by Cumbria Police regarding reports of two ladies who were lost and unable to move somewhere near Bonscale Pike in the Howtown area.

Contact was made with the couple and their location was pinpointed with a Sarloc phone-find. Directions were given for them to find the correct path and make their way off the hill. The Team were put on standby whilst their progress was monitored and as they were struggling due to the rough terrain it was decided that a small group would go and assist them.

Four team members made their way onto the hill and once at the location the women were secured with ropes and slowly walked off the rough ground and down to the valley bottom. The ladies were suitably equipped with torches and waterproofs but had just found themselves in a precarious position after losing the path. They correctly realised their situation and rang for assistance.

The incident took 3.5 hours in total.

On Tuesday 28th March the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was requested by Cumbria Police to assist a couple who were lost somewhere on Helvellyn summit in a whiteout and unable to find the path back down. They had ascended from Glenridding onto the summit when the weather deteriorated rapidly and visibility was lost.

The Duty leader tried to contact them by phone but was unable to at first. Because of this the rest of the Team were put on standby whilst further information was gathered. Eventually contact was made with the couple, they had been given directions by another party of walkers and were heading off the summit towards Dollywagon Pike and Grisedale Tarn.

The Duty Leader kept checking on the couple and a couple of hours later it was established that they were off the hill and back at their car safe and well.
