Person in the water, Ullswater

On Saturday 25th July 2026, at 14:00hrs, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service requested the assistance of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team via Cumbria Police to help rescue a woman who had got into difficulty on Ullswater Lake near Watermillock. The Team’s RIB, Patrick Pete Hamilton, was quickly deployed to the water and headed to the scene, whilst a Team Land Rover followed by road to the Outward Bound Watermillock jetty. Thankfully, the woman was helped by boats at the scene, including a Lake District National Park Authority boat and returned safely to shore, so the Team was stood down. The incident involved 7 Team Members and lasted an hour. The Team would like to thank Outward Bound for allowing us access to their premises.
