At 14:00hrs Friday 24 September, Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted to a man who had slipped and injured his knee while descending from Barton Fell above Ullswater. The team was able to access the location from Roehead and travel towards Barton Fell using the 4×4 landrovers.

Once on scene the man’s injuries were assessed with first aid administered before being transferred back to Roehead to the waiting ambulance. On arrival back at Pooley Bridge the grateful companions kindly bought refreshments and wished us a “rescue free” weekend.

The Team’s 2021 incident attendance register records this callout as “Man fell from a stile – Duddon and Furness MRT incident”. No further public press-release wording survives in the archive.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Wednesday morning 08/09/21 by the North West Ambulance Service regarding a woman who had fallen about 50 foot in the water. The Great North Air Ambulance and land ambulance had been called out at the same time and the team met up with the other medical teams at the scene.

The walker had been pulled off a steep cliff by her dog and had landed in the shallow water below. She had sustained some serious injuries to her lower leg and was in a great deal of pain. The casualty was treated at the scene by the medics and she was then transferred onto a stretcher and evacuated by the Patterdale team to the helimed which had landed in a field some distance away.

She was then flown to the RVI in Newcastle. The team would like to thank the NWAS and GNAAS crews for some great team work which resulted in a quick and efficient rescue. The rescue involved 14 Patterdale team members and lasted for about 2 hours.

On Saturday 28th August 2021 at 14.21 hrs Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called by Cumbria Police to a report of a 32 year old female who had fallen in Aira Force whilst walking around the waterfalls. The report given was that she had heard a loud snap when falling.

The team responded, located the casualty, and the Team Doctor assessed the injury. She had sustained a suspected fractured ankle and was in considerable pain, therefore she was given pain relief and packaged in a leg splint and stretchered from the scene to a Team Land Rover. She was then transferred to an ambulance and conveyed to hospital for further treatment.

16 team members attended the rescue which took around 3 hours to complete.
