At 13:30 on Sunday, 10th May, Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by Cumbria Police to an older walker experiencing chest pains and breathlessness near Grisedale Tarn. Communication with the casualty was lost shortly after the initial 999 call, prompting an urgent response. 4 team members deployed to the fell, while the rest of the team assembled at base. The Coastguard helicopter was requested to assist due to the severity of the medical report. The Coastguard helicopter arrived quickly on scene, located the walker, and provided an initial assessment. The casualty was then airlifted to Carlisle Airport and transferred to a North West Ambulance Service vehicle for transport to Carlisle Infirmary. Patterdale MRT would like to thank the Coastguard and NWAS for their vital assistance in this time-critical rescue.
