Callout 29
On Sunday 12th April at 12:36hrs the Team were contacted by Cumbria Police for a couple who were walking on Striding Edge where the female had lost confidence and felt unable to carry on. The Duty Leader was able to contact the couple after various attempts which was due to a poor phone signal , he established their exact location and conditions underfoot and advice was given.
After a short while and encouragement the female agreed she could try and return along the ridge the way they had travelled with the Duty Leader following their location by phone find and WhatsApp tracking. Once off Striding Edge they were happy they were safe and continued on with their walk back down to Glenridding thanking us for the assistance, all be it remotely it was enough for her to gain the confidence to retrace her steps.
