Following a call from the Police, Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team were called out to an incident on Striding Edge, Helvellyn. A 50yr old man from Essex, walking with his son, had slipped resulting in a suspected dislocated left shoulder.
Sixteen team members attended the incident. On reaching the scene, the man, who was in a lot of pain, was confirmed to be suffering with a dislocated shoulder. The dislocated shoulder was put back in place on the fell. The man was then placed in a stretcher and airlifted from the scene by a Sea King helicopter from RAF Boulmer.
The man was then taken to Carlisle hospital – and his son walked off the fell. Members of RAF Leeming mountain rescue team, who were training in the area, also attended the incident.
