Cumbria Police tasked the Team to an incident on a section of Striding Edge, known as the Bad Step. Initial reports suggested that a 27 year old man from Hull had lost his footing on the ridge, fallen a short distance and then slid further down the fell.

He was reported to have broken his leg. The casualty was examined by Team Doctors, who suspected a fracture with the possibility of other injuries consistent with a tumbling fall. Due to his condition, the location and the time needed for an evacuation on foot, the assistance of a SAR helicopter was requestea. However, due to a deterioration in the weather, the casualty had to be stretchered down to the main track from Greenside, which was below the cloud base, so transfer to a helicopter was possible.

The casualty was flown to the CIC for treatment.

NWAS requested the Team’s assistance in going to the aid of a male with a leg injury. The Team responded in two Land Rovers and was able to drive to the location near Dockray, which was inaccessible by land ambulance. The casualty’s leg was splinted and he was placed on a stretcher prior to being conveyed by Land Rover to the ambulance at the main road.

He was transported to hospital for further treatment.

The Team was called by Cumbria Police to reports of a female who had slipped whilst walking by Aira Force and suffered an ankle injury. The casualty was given pain relief and her ankle splinted. She was then stretchered to the car park where she was handed over to NWAS and conveyed to CIC for further treatment.
