At 18:42, Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by Cumbria Police to a student on a residential course who had sustained an ankle injury near Grisedale Tarn. Initial contact was made with the informant, who described the casualty’s injury and the treatment already applied on scene. A full Team callout was initiated, and five Team members departed promptly in a team vehicle up the Grisedale Valley. Approximately one hour after the initial alert, the Team received an update stating that the casualty was now able to bear weight on the injured ankle and had requested that the Team stand down. All Team members returned to the rescue Base to re-pack and prepare equipment for future incidents. The incident took 2 hours and involved 8 Team members.
