Matterdale Common
On Wednesday 16th July 2008 Patterdale Mountain rescue Team were called by Cumbria Police to assist a 60 yr old female from the Carlisle area who had slipped and injured her left ankle. She had been walking near Mosedale Beck on Matterdale Common. Some of her colleagues in the walking party had carried her to Mariel bridge on the Old Coach Road.

The team were able to access close to the casualty site in their Land Rovers. After being given pain relief and treatment she was evacuated by a team vehicle to the car park of The Royal Hotel, Dockray where she was transferred to an Ambulance for onward transportation to Carlisle Infirmary
