On Tuesday 24th June Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist the ambulance service to evacuate a fisherman who had fallen on the shore of Ullswater. The casualty had sustained a fractured femur.

On reaching the scene, the team placed the casualty on their stretcher. The team then lifted the stretcher up and over a high wall which separated the foreshore from the road above. A team vehicle was used to transport him to the waiting air ambulance for onward transfer to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle.
