Patterdale mountain rescue team were today called by the police to attend an incident by the shore of Ullswater.

A 72 year old man from Portsmouth had tripped and hit his head whilst walking along the Ullswater lake path between Glenridding and Howtown. The team used their new rescue boat to reach the casualty site. Once on site they met up with crew members from Pride of Cumbria air ambulance who had also been tasked to the scene.

The man was treated on scene then taken by the Patterdale rescue boat to a land ambulance in Glenridding.
